Fun with Firsties!

First of all, Hellooooo, PowerPoint!  Why haven't I been using you ALL ALONG?! No, really.  I had no idea how much easier it is to use PP to design my activities.  Love. It.  If you're not using PP, totally give it a shot!  I've recently upgraded to Office 2010 and am really impressed with it :)

Anyway, Happy Fourth of July to all of you!  It's looking like rain here, which is probably going to interfere with our plans for the day (parade, cookout, the pool...).  Dangit.

So, I've been about 12 kinds of tied up with summertime activities and icky old grad school, which makes me want to growl anytime I think about it.  The good news is that there's only a week and half left of my second class, and then it's off until September.  And then only four months after that I'll have my masters. Woo hoo!  Then I am so done with school.  At least for awhile. A long while.

Amidst the craziness of grad school, vacations, and dust {still refinishing the hardwood upstairs}, I've had a smidgeon bit of time to work on my upcoming activities to kick off my year in first grade, which I'm getting a little excited about.  {I'm not going to lie, I visited my building on Friday to pick up some curriculum and I'm pretty sure I about had a panic attack realizing there was only a month left before I'll return to that place!  Seriously, my stomach was in knots and my breathing was not normal!}

But, I feel a little bit  more at ease, knowing that I will supplement my first week with lots of Fun for Firsties activities!  One of the games we'll play as an icebreaker during our first few days together is Find-A-Friend.  Click on the picture below to download a gameboard.

If you want to purchase Fun for Firsties from my TpT store, it includes the version above and two additional versions.

This product will regularly be $6.00, but I'm having a...
...and everything in my TpT shop is 20% off until tomorrow!  {I actually intended for it all to be a "fourth" off, but there wasn't a 25% off option!}  So, Fun with Firsties is $4.80 right now.  You can see additional thumbnails and a preview of what's inside by visiting my TpT site HERE

Have a great day, everyone!  Enjoy your time with family, watch some fireworks, and try not to think about the fact that our days are numbered!!!!  Happy Fourth!!!!

You should try using Microsoft Publisher to create with. It's so easy to use. It has so many more options than Power Point, but works in a similar way. It used to come with Office, but now it's extra. You would love it!

Hi Abby, Love this unit, but I teach former firsties! This would still be perfect to use for brand new second graders/former firsties :) when school begins in September. Any chance you could alter the pages that refer to first grade/graders to say second grade/graders? I'd be happy to pay extra for that!

Happy 4th surprise for ME! I just purchased the unit and it is wonderful.

However...I am getting the night before jitters too--just four weeks away from the beginning of school.

Hi! I just LOVE your layout! Teaching is not new to me but blogging is. I just started a blog today here on blogspot but I don't know how to jazz it up the way you and other bloggers have. Do you have any pointers for a new blogger like me? BTW, I also LOVE your TpT things. I think it is great to see other teachers so passionate about teaching. Take care!
